Enterprise mobility management for healthcare – are we expecting a disruption in 2017

BYOD makes great sense in healthcare industry and is ready for a big disruption for managing the patient data and carrying out the clinical processes within the unit.

Along with retail, travel and food industry, healthcare tops the list of industries adopting mobile strategies. There has been a continual growth in mobile medical innovations as hospitals, medical care units, diagnostic centers are reinventing in a fast-paced digital environment.

Experts and specialists hailing from healthcare organizations are headed to a mobility disruption with the implausible concepts of virtual healthcare that involves digital diagnostics, remote monitoring telemedicine and fitness apps.

As per a report, this mobile adoption in the medical industry has doubled in last two years, with closely one-third of the consumers having at least one health and fitness app or any medical app.

The app stores have a plethora of heart rate, blood pressure, sugar levels monitoring apps that have certainly given a relief to patients from standing in long queues just to get their blood pressure checked.

Now that there are many user-based health apps, the doctors, nursing staff and other admin people are gravitating towards enterprise mobility. The hospital staff is gravitating towards enterprise mobility solutions as more efficient mobile management takes place.

Clinicals are utilizing more advanced devices to ensure that their patient’s health is secured and intercommunication within the organizations are more integrated and seamless.

With Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, both internal and external processes in the industry are streamlined. However, developing a complete EMM solution is not as easy as it seems.

It’s different than developing a regular mobile app as the developers or app development agencies need to cover a high volume of devices and thus, they need to implement a strong mobile management strategy. Also, to keep a check on the abnormal behavior of the app because patient data and healthcare unit’s data is extremely sensitive to any breaches or viruses.

What’s new in EMM for 2017?

There is this new wave in enterprise mobility Microsoft is going to apply AI and cloud innovations in the healthcare industry. The company takes off the Healthcare NExT- a technology program that brings together massive cloud and latest Ai innovations by Microsoft.

The company is working on chatbots so that the patients/users can have virtual doctor visits when they can stay at home conveniently.

Healthcare units are collaborating with various app development companies to develop an app for their enterprise so as to manage the data and information across the unit in real time. As doctors and specialists have patients coming to and going out from the clinics all times, they need an exclusively effective data management software such that whenever they need, they can directly access it from their mobile screen.

This has called for advanced data analytics apps as we move towards online platforms.

The ability to remotely access patient information is a blessing. In an emergency situation, when the doctor is not physically present and the patient needs urgent care, the doctor can refer to the patient’s history on the phone and can quickly as the unit to give the right medication to the patient, till the time he/she arrives.

With enterprise mobility management, the healthcare industry can ease out several processes and streamline everything from patient’s data to internal communication between departments, suppliers, medicine retailers, dealers and business partners.
